Elavon, a leading global payments provider and subsidiary of U.S. Bancorp (NYSE: USB), and Amadeus, a global leader in advanced technology solutions for the travel industry, announced during the annual Elavon Travel Symposium that they have signed an agreement to integrate Elavon’s payment processing solutions into the Amadeus Payments Platform (APP).

As the top global acquirer for the airline industry, Elavon works with more than 50 of the world’s leading airlines to manage their payment acceptance. This agreement allows airlines to process their payments directly through the APP and benefit from its travel tailored functionalities.

Similarly, businesses in the airline and hospitality industries connected to the APP can access Elavon’s advanced acquiring services. In doing so, they will be able to manage chargeback services and reduce the cost of card acceptance with Elavon’s global processing capabilities in more than 30 countries.

Celia Pereiro, head of travel payments at Amadeus, said, “Working with the number one airline acquirer consolidates the value that Amadeus brings to the industry with its payments solutions. We understand the unique complexity of processing payments within the travel industry. Backed by Elavon’s vast airline acquiring expertise, not only will our travel merchants be able to expand their global presence, but they will streamline their payments processes, reducing card related costs and ultimately minimize this complexity.”

The Amadeus Payment Platform, used by more than 300 airlines worldwide, ensures a fast and easy payment process to all its travel provider users as authorization is integrated in the ticketing and selling process. This also translates into enhanced transaction information, which facilitates payment reconciliation. The APP also offers travel tailored functionalities that provide a secure payment environment to both travelers and travel providers. A single connection to the APP gives access to a multitude of payment options, streamlining the payment process as it eliminates the need to integrate additional payment providers.

John Follert, senior vice president of airline acquiring for Elavon said, “The combination of Elavon’s global acquiring capabilities and Amadeus’ world-class travel technology solutions is a real win for the airline industry as it brings a seamless booking and payment processing experience to consumers. Airlines will immediately see the value of this alliance as they find a variety of tools to optimize their payment processes in the Amadeus Payment Platform.”
