"Thanks to Gwinnett County Public Schools and community partners like Elavon, Gwinnett area students will be exposed to hands-on learning with a relevant curriculum which includes financial literacy, business and career readiness."

Junior Achievement of Georgia (JA), an organization dedicated to empowering young people to own their future economic success, and Elavon, a leading global payments provider and subsidiary of U.S. Bancorp (NYSE: USB), have extended their partnership to bring JA BizTown and JA Finance Park to more than 25,000 Gwinnet County middle school students.

The Gwinnett location is an expansion from Junior Achievement's Chick-fil-A Foundation Discovery Center located in the heart of downtown Atlanta where 30,000 middle school students from Atlanta Public Schools, DeKalb County Schools, Fulton County Schools and Marietta Middle Schools peak into what their financial future entails. The new 45,000-square-foot Gwinnett facility opens this month and is located in Lawrenceville’s new Discovery High School.

By incorporating local Gwinnett landmarks and companies, the true-to-life simulation will teach all 6th and 8th graders from Gwinnett County Public Schools the importance of financial decision making in our economy and how to manage a household budget. In fact, 94 percent of students strongly agree that after participating in JA Finance Park, they expect to graduate high school and continue their education.

"At JA, we are committed to educational outreach within our communities, and we are truly grateful to partner with Elavon who shares a passion for that same commitment,” said Jack Harris, president and CEO of JA of Georgia. “Thanks to Gwinnett County Public Schools and community partners like Elavon, Gwinnett area students will be exposed to hands-on learning with a relevant curriculum which includes financial literacy, business and career readiness.”

Every student at the JA Discovery Center at Gwinnett will have the opportunity to participate in the Elavon/JA Check-out Survey that will evaluate the student’s daily knowledge gains and budgetary decisions. The sponsorship of the Elavon/JA Check-out center is only a part of Elavon's commitment to the program. Throughout the year, a team of employees also will volunteer their time at the Center, just as they have at the JA BizTown and JA Finance Park in Atlanta.

"Elavon has a long history of supporting Junior Achievement, and we take pride in helping them expand their education programs throughout the country,” said Guy Harris, president of North America for Elavon. “JA BizTown and Finance Park is an excellent program, and our employees jump at the opportunity to contribute in the development of students in our communities.”
